GIS Connection to BIM

GIS has connectivity with some BIM solutions and there are other platforms that can act as an interface to combine GIS data with 3D models. Here, I would like to share my experiences with some BIM platforms that I work with. And recently, I have been learning to connect BIM and GIS using Revit and ArchiCAD.

There are many different developments in this field and different platforms that allow us to enhance our methodologies to develop Architecture projects using BIM.

It is very useful to explore the different sites of the city for particular projects. With GIS, I can understand a great deal of information such as the density of an area, the connectivity and the city environment to develop sunlight and climate settings in a very accurate level.

But I must say that for the case of exporting to other integrations such as CityEngine or 3DS the size, the scale and the position of the buildings might show slightly changes (see picture below). I suggest there are other useful set of tools like Grasshopper that will allow us to import the information contained in shape files.
